Fall Break Hiking Trip by Matt Warnez
Over fall break, our men’s group of five plus one traveled to Georgia for backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. Our hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Cannon, were very hospitable, waking for our late arrivals and preparing several munificent meals. We spent two nights on the trail. The day in between was moist and foggy, but it was still good: Mr. Cannon fought a bear, Phil was chally, Peter wanted more raspberries, Will used a hammock, David was comfortable in the tent, and so was Malaquias. We also practiced memorizing a passage from Romans 8. When the fog cleared the next day we were able to see the expansive country as we hiked out. It was a treat to spend time in the wilderness with good friends.
