UCO Pittsburgh

UCO Pittsburgh

Who We Are

University Christian Outreach (UCO) is an ecumenical group of young men and women in Pittsburgh seeking Christ together while attending university. Our mission is to bring the Gospel to our campuses in a powerful way through prayer, evangelism and the witness of our life together. We promote the unity of Christians who are Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Non-Denominational and Pentecostal by choosing to pray, worship, evangelize and build community together.

UCO is rooted in the core principles of Christianity. Weekly prayer meetings include a variety of Scriptural teaching, testimonies and a substantial time of prayer and praise, all designed to enhance our walk with Christ. We seek to live out the call to be disciples of Jesus Christ on a daily basis. UCO is also charismatic, which means we encourage receptivity to the Holy Spirit and exercise of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Along with prayer, worship, teaching and service, UCO encourages strong fellowship among its members.  We hold many social events and enjoy one another’s company.

We welcome you to come check us out this year!

Katie hails from Michigan, and recently moved to Pittsburgh to pursue her never-thought-of dream of being a missionary. She was involved with UCO in college at Grand Valley State University, where she found her faith and spent many hours practicing evangelization techniques with the cadavers in lab. She’s brought to life by Jesus, coffee, museums, adventures that aren’t actually dangerous, and puns. Katie is thrilled to be working for the Lord, learning more about Christian faith, and exploring a new city. And she’s dead-serious about the cadavers. And puns.

Katie Doyle
Mission Leader

This is Katie’s third year of staff work with UCO Pittsburgh, though she spent four years in the group while completing her undergraduate degree at Pitt.  She has a lot of passion for UCO, in a large way because of it’s deeply reverential culture of worship and Christ-centered friendships.  For Katie, working on staff is a way to answer the Lord’s call to lay down her life in true servanthood and to build His kingdom–and have a jolly good time doing it. She is inspired by every day miracles, famous works of literature, dinosaur sightings in the Carnegie Library, and people whistling on the street.

Stephanie Wulpi
Mission Director

Steph is from South Haven, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Architecture. Before joining the staff for UCO Pittsburgh in July 2014, she spent one year on staff with UCO Belfast, followed by four years with UCO Ann Arbor, where she met and married her husband Ben. Steph learned everything she knows about cars (which is precious little) from her dad (who does know everything). She loves good design, good books, history, experimental cooking, hugging pillows, and general merriment.

Ben Wulpi
Mission Director

Ben is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, but now realizes that Pittsburgh is a much cooler place. He attended college at THE Huntington University and majored in Religious Studies, in which he learned just how little he knows. Before moving to Pittsburgh in the summer of 2014, Ben served UCO in Ann Arbor for four years. It was there that he met and fell in love with the most beautiful woman in the world, whom he successfully tricked into becoming his wife and serving alongside him for the Kingdom of God. His hobbies include bear wrestling, getting lost in Pittsburgh, and all things Lord of the Rings. To contact Ben for any questions or information on UCO, email ben(at)ucoweb.org.
