What is CMA?

Campus Mission Academy (CMA) is a 6 day conference put on by University Christian Outreach aimed at equipping you - a student - to be a missionary on your campus. We gather to pray, to learn, and to belong here at Michindoh Camp & Retreat Center every August!

Who should go to CMA? Why should I go to CMA?

This conference is for anyone who is a part UCO! Our hope is that while you’re here you’ll experience the broader family of UCO and encounter God in a way you never have before. We believe every student has been gifted by God to contribute to the work of building the Kingdom, no matter your personality, background, or major. Even if you’re unsure about coming, we encourage you to meet with a staff member from your local chapter or to reach out to our CMA director for more information / any other questions you may have.

What should I bring?

  • Bible

  • Notebook, pens, etc.

  • Enough clothes to last you 1 week:

    • We encourage “business casual” dress when attending the sessions (nice shirt and jeans, sun dress, etc.)

    • Athletic shoes & clothes for free times and outdoor activities

    • Sweatshirts/jacket (it’s often cold in our main meeting room)

    • A nicer outfit for the Lord’s Day on Saturday

    • Modest swimsuit for the waterfront

  • Bedding (pillow & sheets or sleeping bag)

  • Water Bottle (stay hydrated friends!)

  • Toiletries (toothbrush, shampoo, etc.)

  • Hammock (always a good idea if you have one!)

  • Any games you’d like to play with friends

The camp does provide towels, although you are welcome to bring your own if you’d like!

What happens over the course of the week?

The typical day starts with a world-class Michindoh breakfast, followed by a time of worship, preaching from the Word of God, and time for personal prayer. Late morning we spend engaging our intellects with talks from some of UCO’s best speakers, and after lunch we dive into the practical training - how to be a missionary on your college campus.

Late afternoon is usually set aside as free time, which can be spent playing basketball, disc golf, exploring the trails, swimming, canoeing, or napping! You’ll find the biggest crowd though around the sand volleyball court where all the chapters battle it out in the annual UCO Volleyball Tournament. Winners are enshrined in UCO glory for at least the next year (if people remember).

Throughout the week you’ll also spend a good amount of time with your “house group” - a group of 8-10 other students and staff who will be your mini-community. In these groups you’ll get to share life, pray together, and discuss and work through the content of the conference.

What are the room accommodations like?

Students will be staying in Michindoh’s Maplewood and Pine Ridge cabins which each have bunk rooms and their own bathroom. Most of our larger sessions will be in Merillat Lodge.

For a map of the camp and more information, you can visit the Michindoh website.

Can I come for part of the week?

In order for you to experience CMA to the fullest, we do ask that you plan to stay for the entirety of the conference. If you have something that may keep you from attending for part of a day, we encourage you to talk with your local staff to see what the best option is for your situation.

Other questions?

If you have other questions we have not answered here, please feel free to send an email to our conference director, Malaquias Garcia. He will try his best to give you a quick and timely response. You can email him here.
