What We Do

University Christian Outreach in Grand Rapids began with a group of students at Grand Valley State University who had seen the way the Lord was working through other UCO chapters around the country and had a vision of bringing the same enthusiasm and life to their own campus. Now students from colleges all over the Grand Rapids area come to UCO.

Our Values
We are a community of disciples on mission.
Four charisms describe our distinctive values:
Discipleship: UCO equips students to become committed lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ by following his teaching and responding to his calling in family, career, church and mission.
Charismatic Renewal / Mission: UCO is charismatic, in its corporate worship, and seeks to promote spiritual renewal, through the release of the Holy Spirit’s presence and power. UCO seeks to teach students to share their faith through purposeful living and a genuine concern for others.
Common-Life & Community: UCO is a place where students can have an experience of rich and close relationships through a shared common life in the dorms, in households, and in the many activities of the chapter. A community-oriented experience is one of the distinctives of this ministry.
Ecumenism: UCO has its origins in ecumenical groups and movements. UCO has an ecumenical membership (i.e., Catholic, Anglican, Protestant/Evangelical, and Orthodox) and looks to foster goodwill and understanding among students of differing Christian traditions.
