Who We Are
We are an ecumenical group of Christians from Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox traditions. We serve the campuses of Michigan State University and Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan.
Our weekly Worship Nights are on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. at the Work of Christ Community Center (4828 S. Hagadorn Road, East Lansing, MI 48823).
Eric was born and raised in Lansing Michigan. He came to know the Lord his freshman year of college through University Christian Outreach. Eric originally attended college to become a firefighter, but decided to leave the heat because he felt the Lord calling him into ministry, thus leading him to receive a bachelor’s in Ministry Leadership at Cornerstone University. He has served on staff in Jacksonville, Florida and led a local youth group called Christian Youth in Action. Eric plans to attend seminary and eventually move into a pastorate position with a local church.
Brendan is a native of the great state of New Jersey, but spent his college years studying at Michigan State. It was there that he met his beautiful wife, Sophie. They were married in his senior year of college and soon after, were off to Maryland to plant a new UCO chapter at the University of Maryland. Four-and-a-half years and three kids later, they are back at MSU where Brendan serves as a Mission Director. In his free time, Brendan enjoys date nights with Sophie, hiking and looking for wildlife with his kids, and MSU sports.
Mike Giles is on the team of volunteer staff at UCO Lansing. A local boy, he earned his B.A. at Hillsdale College. Now he is living the highly exciting (and extremely caffeinated) life of a graduate student at Michigan State.
Tim is originally from Vancouver, Canada and moved to Michigan to be on staff with UCO. He attended the University of British Columbia and studied Philosophy while being involved in the UCO chapter there. One of Tim’s favourite things to do is to share a good meal with friends.
Chris is from the center of the universe (Dimondale, MI). He was involved in UCO when he was studying at LCC. He attended Ferris State University and then spent a couple of years in the workplace before doing a UCO Mission Year. Chris enjoys lifting heavy things and watching westerns.
James is a Lansing native, but graduated from a school down the road. While in university, he was involved with our chapters in Lansing, Ann Arbor, and for a brief stint with our sister chapter in London, England. James currently works for Kairos North America, an organization that supports outreaches like UCO.
Brian serves on UCO senior staff. He is a member of the Servants of the Word brotherhood and was UCO Lansing’s Mission Director from 2006-2012. Currently, he does computer programming as a day-job and then a bunch of other things to push the edge in living a missionary lifestyle.
Molly is on her third year as a UCO Staffer and hails from Saint Paul, MN, where she grew up and was a member of Saint Paul’s Outreach, a sister outreach of UCO. Some of her favorite persons/places/things besides UCO are camping and campfires, reading, coffee, running, canoeing, her family, Jesus, listening to rain on a porch, love and loveliness, classical music, her other job at Kairos North America, and her husband – Alex Kilpatrick.
Clara, a born and raised Michigander, has delighted in living and serving in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Detroit and Lansing Michigan. She was first introduced to UCO as a student at Grand Valley State University. After earning her B.B.A in Accounting, she moved to Lansing to serve on staff with UCO. She loves going on walks, jamming on the djembe, budgeting, playing ultimate frisbee and spreading the joy of the Lord. Clara acts as the Administrative Assistant for UCO.
Alex is a Michigander who got involved with UCO whilst living in the dorms at the University of Michigan. After graduating with a bachelor’s in Cell & Molecular Biology, he moved up to Lansing, where he has been on staff with UCO for the past 6 years. Alex enjoys reading and playing just about any sport. He oversees the UCO chapter in Lansing, the Summer Academy and other regional events, and helps with some of the new UCO chapters in the region.
